Why with the Chinese characters: PAS Man

SEGAMAT- PAS questioned why with the chinese characters on road signs installed around the Abdullah village earlier this week, abandoning the more favorable jawi. (Arabic alphabet for writing the Malay language, Acehnese, Banjarese, Minangkabau, Tausug and several other languages in Southeast Asia.)
Its president, Firdaus Masod said, the use of jawi was more meaningfull as it have its own value as well as its represent the identity of the Malays living there.
He said cities like Johor Bahru and Penang had no problem retaining the Jawi on their road signs till these days. —sinar harian
